China Comes to
Australia for Milk
Like Europe Went to
China for Silk.
“Milk Road” describes the relationship and modern web of trade routes between Australia and China.
This route transfers what people in China need from strategic related industries in Australia that include Food, Agriculture, Resources, Healthcare, Education, Tourism and Technology.
WHY MILK INSTEAD OF SILK?
Milk is a useful metaphor for many things, especially food and agriculture.
Money from China flows south like “New Milk” to Australia to buy products, services and as capital to invest.
One good example is the largest dairy farm in Australia, VDL in Tasmania, that was purchased in 2015 by Moon Lake Investments of Shanghai.
Moon Lake appears to be building a “New Milk Road”between Tasmania and China.
One reason would be the best milk in the world is produced in Tasmania by agribusiness experts with artisan craft knowledge, care & skill in a unique ecosystem – similar in ways of how and why silk used to be manufactured only in China.
Another reason is China Food Safety.
CHINA FOOD SAFETY
The People’s Republic of China have established a Government program which translates into the English words – “China Food Safety.”
To attain a level of food safety as high as Australia, China needs to build its own modern “World Class Food System.”
This helps explain “Why” people in China come to Australia – why the New Milk Road exists and grows.
Big questions are “how” and “when” China will build its own modern World Class Food System.
The longer it takes China to do this, the more risky it is for the food system of Australia.
Australian agribusiness experts, including farmers, are in a valuable position, more valuable than most people realise, to help China convert this dream into reality.
